More Wildness in the West

The Cardinals games at Arizona produced a wild box score as the Diamondbacks staged a big comeback to win the game 12-7. The most unusual thing that struck me was the number three slot in the Arizona order. Matt Holliday started the game in leftfield and went 1-2 with a triple. Rookie Jeremy Hazelbaker replace Holliday, and he tripled, then added a home run. All in all there were four triples in the game. Hazelbaker now has 16 hits on the season, 10 of them for extra base hits.

The Cardinals hit three triples and two home runs, but did not hit a double. The Diamondbacks hit six doubles and a triple, and a home run.

Zack Greinke did not pitch like an ace, but had to stay in the game due to the long game on Sunday. He allowed seven earned runs in 6 2/3 innings, but got the win when the DBacks scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth. Greinke did not walk a batter, but he did allow two home runs. The Diamonbacks hit for the cycle as a team with the first six batters of the sixth inning.

Wow.
