The Legend Grows

Bryce Harper gets a day off for the Nationals, but comes to the plate to lead off the ninth inning as a pinch hitter with the Twins leading 4-3. He takes two balls from Kevin Jepsen. Jepsen works the count even. Harper then takes ball three on a pitch that was close, fouls off ball four high, then takes a swing and just stands at the plate as the ball sails over the centerfield fence. Everyone knew it was gone the moment it left his bat.

Anthony Rizzo hit two home runs today to tie Harper and Trevor Story at eight, but Rizzo’s share of the lead didn’t last long. Harper now has 20 hits on the season, 15 for extra bases.
