Colby Lewis figured out how to get a decision with the Rangers, pitch a near no-hitter. He faced just one over the minimum going into the ninth inning against the Athletics, walking a batter. In the ninth he gave up two doubles and a run, but that was it as the Rangers win 5-1. For Lewis, it was his 14th start of the season, and his record now stands at 6-0. With a 2.81 ERA, he should have more wins than that.
Daniel Mengden pitched well in his second MLB start, not allowing a run until the seventh inning. He walked one and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings.
