A number of Cy Young Award candidates pitched on Wednesday, but little changed in the Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points standings. Clayton Kershaw, in the rare world he inhabits, had an off game as he allowed both one walk and one home run. He still leads the standings by 12 points. Johnny Cueto, Noah Syndergaard, and Stephen Strasburg all pitched outstanding games, but didn’t really gain any ground. The race for second place in the NL is very tight, with Cueto, Madison Bumgarner, and Jake Arrieta separated by less than two points. Strasburg, despite his 10-0 record, is not really in the running as he allowed many more earned runs than the others.
In the AL, Chris Sale close the gap a tiny bit on Steven Wright. Both won, both allowed three runs, but Sale struck out three more batters. Danny Salazar is right on their heels, so right now the AL race looks much more interesting than the NL Race.
