One is Not Enough

Five players record multi home run games Friday night. That’s a very good total for a single day. Since the majors expanded to 30 teams in 1998, 97 days produced at least five multi-home run games, or about 5.2 days per season. This was the third such day in June 2016, and May 31 also saw five multi-HR games. That four in a span of three weeks, and five this season. There were only six such days in the previous three seasons combined. It’s another example of the rise in offense in 2016 being driven by home runs.

Mark Trumbo leads the majors with four multi-HR games.
