Order Out of Disorder

The Dodgers are among the NL Leaders in players used in 2016. Entering today, the Dodgers used 51 different players in games this season, second to the Braves. They also used 29 different pitchers in games, the third most in the NL behind the Braves and Padres.

If you look at the teams at the top and bottom of those lists, the Dodgers seem to be out of place. The teams with the better records use fewer players, the teams with worse records use more. This makes sense, as bad teams look for better players, and injuries often cause good teams to perform poorly.

The Dodgers should fall into that second category. Kudos to the Dodgers front office and Dave Roberts for overcoming the injuries that caused them to need to use so many players. The front office was able to call on the depth of the Dodgers system, or make trades to fill in holes. Dave Roberts appears to be getting the most out of the talent given him, and the Dodgers are in first place.
