The Indians take Brandon Guyer from the Rays, a veteran outfielder who does a good job of getting on base:
Cleveland sent outfielder Nathan Lukes and right-hander Jhonleider Salinas to Tampa Bay.
Guyer, a right-handed hitter, is batting .241 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs in 63 games. He has been hit by a pitch 23 times, a major league high, and is batting .344 (22 for 64) with four homers against left-handers.
The two prospects are both about 1/2 Guyer’s age, and have some positive aspects. I would say at this point they are a work in progress. The Indians let Juan Uribe go to make room for Guyer. I really thought they would go for Evan Longoria, especially given the team’s problems at third base.
