Jeremy Hellickson takes on Stephen Strasburg as the Phillies try to gain ground on the Nationals. Hellickson pitched well against the Nationals this season, walking four and striking out 19 in 17 innings pitched. Strasburg makes his second attempt at going 10-0. He comes in with half of his 12 starts resulting in ten strikeouts or more.
Kevin Gausman faces Marco Estrada as the Orioles continue their series in Toronto. Gausman has yet to win as he makes his tenth start, despite a 3.52 ERA. The Orioles scored three runs or less in six of his starts. Estrada allowed just two of his seven home runs at home, helping him to a 1.30 ERA in Toronto this season.
Ian Kennedy battles Chris Sale in an AL Central contest between the Royals and the White Sox. Kennedy allowed nine of hit ten home runs on the road, including two in his first June start. Sale also goes for his tenth win, having allowed 12 runs in his last three starts. He’s allowed 25 runs on the season.
Finally, Clayton Kershaw avoid Madison Bumgarner, but draws the equally Johnny Cueto. The Dodgers visit the Giants. Kershaw is averaging nearly eight innings per start, and struck out 109 batters in just 92 2/3 innings. That’s over twice as many as hits allowed, which stand at 54. Cueto is the third pitcher of the evening going for his 10th win. He allowed just three home runs this season after giving up 21 in 2015.
