Games of the Day

Michael Fulmer continues to make his bid for Rookie of the Year as he leads the Tigers against the Yankees and Michael Pineda. Tigers fans don’t get to see much of Fulmer, as he makes his seventh start on the road against just two at home. So far he showing the ability to strike batters out without walking many. Pineda does both of those as well if not better than Fulmer, but his 12 home runs allowed hurt, especially since eight of those came with men on base.

The Cardinals go for a sweep of the Pirates as Mike Leake faces Jonathon Niese. The teams are battling for second place in the NL Central and a possible wild card berth. Leake spent most of his career in the same division as Pittsburgh, and in 25 starts is 8-4 with a 3.16 ERA against Pittsburgh. He does a good job of limiting the long ball. Niese allowed 12 home runs already this season, but they have not hurt him that much as ten were solo shots.

Enjoy!
