Games of the Day

Toronto swept the Yankees, and now tries to gain on the first place Red Sox as R.A. Dickey takes on David Price in Boston. Dickey has to be a bit of a disappointing signing for the Blue Jays. He certainly eats innings, but a 41-43 record with a 4.01 ERA and the most home runs allowed in the majors wasn’t what Toronto had in mind. The Red Sox, at least, are winning Price’s starts, but they might just as well have a minor league pitcher on the mound with Price’s 5.11 ERA.

The Royals and Indians battle for the AL Central lead in Cleveland. Edinson Volquez faces Danny Salazar. Volquez pitches well overall, but so far this season owns a 6.55 ERA on the road in four starts. Salazar cranked up his K rate his season, with 72 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings.

The Mariners and the Rangers are tied for the AL West lead as Taijuan Walker battles Yu Darvish in Texas. Walker can use some of the runs the Mariners scored lately, as he stands 2-5 despite a 3.31 ERA. He shows great control this season, walking just 11 batters in 54 1/3 innings. Darvish makes his second start since returning from Tommy John surgery. He didn’t seem to miss a beat as he walked one and struck out seven in a five inning return.

Enjoy!
