Games of the Day

The Red Sox visit Baltimore to battle for the top spot in the American League East as Drew Pomeranz takes on Alec Asher. Pomeranz walked three and struck out 16 in his first 10 innings, but five of the nine hits against him resulted in extra bases, helping him allow six runs. Asher posted a 9.31 ERA in 2015, making seven starts. Since then he made six starts, with a 2.12 ERA. He allowed just one home run in that time, compared to eight allowed in 2015.

The Cubs and Reds sit atop the NL Central as Jon Lester visits Tim Adleman. Lester does not own a decision this season despite a 1.00 ERA. The Cubs scored a total of seven runs in his three starts. Adleman owns a 3.91 career ERA, mostly due to 14 home runs allowed in 73 2/3 innings

The Nationals and Mets fight for the NL East top spot in New York as Tanner Roark faces Jacob deGrom. Roark has yet to allow a home run this season, while the Mets hitters own 24, the second highest total in the majors. In his short career, deGrom already faced the Nationals seven times. He is 2-2 with 45 K and 10 BB in 40 1/3 innings.
