The Rangers beat the Royals 1-0 as Cole Hamels and Danny Duffy staged a classic pitchers duel. Hammels threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings for a no-decision, and Duffy did not allow a run until the ninth inning for the loss. Texas scored on a classic Gene Mauch sequence, a single by Jonathan Lucroy, a sacrifice by Delino DeSheilds, and a single by Shin-soo Choo. That’s was all the Rangers needed.
