Power Surge

The Royals now occupy the second wild card slot in the AL after a poor start to their season. In April and May they went 22-30. Since the start of June, they are 30-17. The big difference is the power of the batters. They hit .231/.291/.374 as a team the first two months, .272/.319/.464 since.

Note that the players hitting for power before the surge are petty much the players hitting for power now, expect most are hitting at a much higher level. Alex Gordon might be the biggest mover, with his slugging percentage going from .206 before June to .407 since, but this is really a team wide phenomenon, not just a couple of players suddenly getting good.

Did the team suddenly adopt better launch angles? Did the weather just get better? Did injuries heal? Whatever happened, the Royals are knocking the ball around the park and winning again.
