Games of the Day

There are three noon EDT games on Thursday, so go to your local sports bar for lunch and enjoy some afternoon baseball!

The Brewers and Nationals start the day off with Michael Blazek facing Max Scherzer. Blazek makes his first start of the season and his MLB career. He has pretty much been a one-inning pitcher in his career, with 120 2/3 innings in 108 relief appearances. We’ll see how long he lasts in the game. Scherzer needs eight strikeouts for 200 in the season, and his sixth season in a row reaching that level.

In the evening, the Rays visit the Yankees in a big AL East/AL Wildcard series. It starts out well with Chris Archer taking on CC Sabathia. Archer is 6-6 in his career against the Yankees, despite a 2.73 ERA. He allowed them just 75 hits in 102 1/3 innings. Sabathia goes for his 10th win. He last reached that level in 2013. He has not pitched well at Yankee Stadium this year, with a 5.29 ERA in six starts versus a 2.29 ERA in ten starts on the road.

Enjoy!
