Orioles Don’t Show Up

Six of the first seven Red Sox batters collect hits off Wade Miley in the bottom of the first inning, aided by poor defense by the Orioles fielders. With two out in the inning, the Red Sox are up 5-0 in a game that should be very important for Baltimore to win. Wade Miley continues to pitch poorly since his move to the Orioles, and Steve Pearce and Manny Machado botched plays that led to hits and runs. How can the Orioles start Miley in a game like this, and how do the fielders look so unprepared? Mookie Betts is now 23 for 51 against the Orioles this season with 19 RBI.
