Pitching Great at Coors

Chad Bettis pitched the fourth best game at Coors Field in terms of Game Score Monday afternoon. He tossed a shutout against the Giants, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out seven. That’s good for a Game Score of 90. The record at Coors is 91, held by three pitchers. On 9/17/1995, Pat Rapp tossed a one hitter in a 17-0 Marlins win. Exactly one year later, on 9/17/1996, Hideo Nomo pitched a no-hitter as the Dodgers won 9-0. Then, on 7/24/2006, Jeff Francis delivered a 91 for the Rockies, as he threw a two-hitter. The Rockies beat the Cardinals 7-0 in that game. Looks like September is a good month for great pitching performances at Coors.
