The Mets continue their strong push for the playoffs as they beat the Reds 6-3 Wednesday afternoon. Since Aug. 20th, they are 14-4, the best record in the majors, a game ahead of Houston’s 12-4. (The Astros play later this evening. They’ve gained on the 8-8 Cardinals, the 6-10 Giants, and left the 5-12 Pirates and 5-12 Marlins in the dust. About a week ago it looked like a five-way race for the two wild card slots in the National League, but with less than four weeks left, it’s down to three teams.
