Games of the Day

The Pirates make their way to Washington as Trevor Williams takes on Patrick Corbin. Williams showed outstanding control this season, with just one walk in twelve innings. The long ball hurt Corbin in his first two starts, with six of the 13 hits against him going for extra bases. With .314 opposition OBP, however, the damage wasn’t too great.

The first place Rays travel to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays.
Ryne Stanek opens for Tampa Bay against Trent Thornton. Since the beginning of last season, as an opener or reliever, opponents post nearly identical BA and OBPs against Stanek, .188/.273 as an opener, .186/.272 as a reliever. Facing the top of the order does mean more extra base hits, however. As an opener, opponents slug .357 against him. As a reliever, .275. Thornton, a true rookie, struck out 15 batters in his first 10 2/3 MLB innings, with just two walks.

Enjoy!
