Games of the Day

The Twins and surprising Orioles square off in Baltimore with Jose Berrios facing Alex Cobb. Berrios improved his control this season, walking just five batters in 27 1/3 innings, or better than one batter every five innings. Cobb allowed 14 home runs in 67 2/3 innings at Camden Yards since joining the Orioles.

The Giants visit the Pirates with Madison Bumgarner facing Jordan Lyles. Bumgarner shows mixed results so far this season. His 23 strikeouts and 4 walks in 26 innings shows his control, but he allowed five home runs and five unearned runs this season. Lyles allowed just one run in eleven innings so far in 2019, and the run came on a solo homer. Opponents have not put together a rally against Lyles yet.

It’s the battle of the Quez’s in Colorado as Vince Velasquez of the Phillies takes on German Marquez of the Rockies. The Phillies defense is playing well behind Velasquez, as opponents own a .133 BABIP against him so far. His career average is a bit high .311. Marquez comes into the game with a 2.00 ERA as he tries to improve that measure for the third year in a row. So far, opponents own a .143/.212/.253 slash line against him.

Enjoy!
