The home run barrage continues as runs are up to 9.31 per game compared to 8.68 through the first two full weeks of 2018. Walks and strikeouts are flat. Non home runs hits are way down at 13.8 per game compared to 14.3 per game through the same time period last year. Home runs are up to 2.6 per game compared to 2.1 per game, and that has brought the base runners home. I’m surprised to see the surge without a surge in strikeouts.
Major league games saw teams score 9.78 runs per game last week, and that is way above week two’s in the last five years.
