Moral Victory

Chris Davis finds the silver lining in an 0 for 3:

“I feel like I’m seeing the ball a lot better,” Davis said after the game. “I mean, I lined out again and drew a walk a little bit later. Just continue to work.

He’s certainly watching the ball go by him quite often. If you just consider this season, Davis is now zero for 32 for his 0.000 BA. Musings Marcels were not high on Davis coming into the season, predicting a .206/.295/.390 slash line. The probability of someone with a .206 BA starting the season 0 for 32 is .0006. The probability of someone with a .295 OBP starting the season reaching base five times in 37 PA is 0.02. The OBP probability is low, but believable. The OBP is in a slump. The BA probability is low enough that it seems like more than bad luck. At this point, the Marcel prediction seems very generous.

Meanwhile, Khris Davis went two for five with two home runs in the game for the Athletics, and now has nine home runs on the season. That about one home run every seven at bats.
