Brian Dozier hit a major milestone Monday night:
Dozier became the fourth second baseman in MLB history to hit 40 home runs in a season in the Twins’ 4-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. According to the Star Tribune, he joins Davey Johnson and Hall of Famers Ryne Sandberg and Rogers Hornsby.
Dozier is the second Minnesota player to reach 40 home runs in a season. Harmon Killebrew was the other. He did it most recently in 1970.
As Dozier notes, his home run power hasn’t helped the Twins win all that much. This continues to be the year of the offensive second baseman.
