Boston In

With the Red Sox beating Baltimore 9-0 and the Angels losing the to Indians 6-5, Boston clinches a playoff slot. In the year of the home run, Boston is last in the AL in that category, but near the top in hits and doubles. Although pitching at times seemed to be a weakness, the Red Sox have allowed the second lowest runs per game in the league this season. They have allowed more home runs than they hit, (179-158), but that’s the second lowest total allowed. Taking away the power of other teams keeps them in games, so Boston can beat their opponents with more batters reaching and a better running game. They are the unconventional team in the playoffs.
