Games of the Day

The Nationals and Mets finish their series with Max Scherzer facing Jacob deGrom. Scherzer currently holds the lead in the NL race for the top spot in Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points. Notice that the Nationals hold three of the top four spots, which should make them a highly rated team going into the playoffs. The Mets send their ace to the mound as well, deGrom needing five innings to reach 200 IP for the first time in his career. He owns 23% of the Mets wins.

John Gant makes his first start for the Cardinals as they try to bounce back against the Pirates and James Taillon. Gant made seven starts for the Braves in 2016, along with 13 relief appearances. He made five appearances for the Cardinals this year. His strikeouts are good, but he walked 26 batters and allowed ten home runs in 59 1/3 career innings. Taillon allowed 10 home runs in 121 2/3 innings this year, great in a season of high power.

The Cubs and Brewers finish their season series, the Brewers trying to keep hope alive with a series split. Jose Quintana meets Chase Anderson. Quintana proved a good pickup for the Cubs, going 6-3 with a 3.95 ERA with the northsiders. Anderson cut his home run rate way down, lowering his ERA from 4.39 last season to 2.74 this year.

Finally, the Diamondbacks can clinch the first wild card slot in the NL with a win and a Rockies loss. They host the Marlins with Dan Straily taking on Patrick Corbin. Straily is near the top of the list in most home runs allowed since the start of the 2016 season with 59. Corbin lost 13 games for the second year in a row, but won 14 this year instead of five. He improved all of this three-true outcome rates to lower his ERA by a run.

Enjoy!
