Doing Less

Washington closer Sean Doolittle will be sidelined for weeks as he suffered a stress reaction in his foot:

Doolittle, who threw off a mound Friday for the first time since July 7, told reporters that an MRI on Saturday revealed a stress reaction in his foot. He said the injury will keep him from pitching for weeks, but not months.

Luckily, the Nationals picked up Kelvin Herrera earlier in the season. He hasn’t pitched well in the set-up role, so he might do better returning to the closer role.

The Nationals also acquired Jacob Condra-Bogan from the Royals for Brian Goodwin. Condra-Bogan is a prospect with great three-true outcomes in the minors.
