The Pirates lead the Indians 7-1 in the middle of the fourth inning as Pittsburgh goes for their eleventh straight win. They have now scored six or more runs in nine of their last 11 games, and in the 10 game streak out scored their opponents 64-20, only allowing more than three ones once.
Great teams tend to win big, and this isn’t a lucky streak in terms of winning close games. The Pirates did that, but most of these contests are blow outs. What’s more, they have done it against pretty good teams; the Nationals, Phillies, Brewers, and Indians are all involved in division races. The Reds were a very hot team before the All-Star break. They are crushing their opponents right now, and that is a sign of excellence. We’ll see if they can keep it up and climb in the division.
