Games of the Day

The Nationals get a chance to climb in the NL East as they host the Braves. Anibal Sanchez faces Stephen Strasburg. Sanchez comes in with a 2.60 ERA, his one weakness being the long-ball. With a .270 OBP allowed, however, the power is doing little damage. Strasburg returns from the disabled list, last pitching on June 8th. Nationals starters had a very rough stretch in his absence, going 5-19 in 34 games with a 6.26 ERA. The group was done in by walks and home runs.

The Bay series moves to Oakland as Dereck Rodriguez of the Giants faces Edwin Jackson of the Athletics. Rodriguez is having an outstanding rookie year, allowing just three home runs and 13 walks in 46 2/3 innings. Jackson helped an ailing Oakland rotation, posting a 2.59 ERA. He’s been pitching to contact, and inducing a .193 BA and a .260 OBP.

Enjoy!
