Games of the Day

The Dodgers continue their series at Philadelphia as Kenta Maeda takes on Aaron Nola. Maeda owns a 3.54 ERA on the road versus 2.74 at home, but his opposition slash line is better away. It looks like a timing problem, as he allowed a .206 BA with runners in scoring position on the road, and .170 at home. Nola comes in with 12 wins, matching his single season high, set in 2017. He dropped his ERA by about one and a quarter runs by limiting home runs this season. He’s throwing his four-season fastball more, and batters are getting under it.

Clay Buchholz tries to continue his comeback as the Diamondbacks face Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs. After many years, Buchholz appears to have tamed his control, allowing just seven walks in 38 2/3 innings. Hendricks already allowed 18 home runs this season, a new single season high for him.

Jeremy Hellickson takes on Junior Guerra as the Nationals try to even their series against the Brewers. Hellickson is pitching to contact again this year, but doing a much better job of limiting home runs and walks. So far, the Washington defense played well behind him. Guerra owns a 2.55 home ERA, allowing just 48 hits in 60 innings.

Gerrit Cole leads the Astros into Colorado to face Tyler Anderson. Cole makes just his second career start at Coors. He won the first one, but didn’t exactly pitch great. Anderson allowed 10 of his 16 home runs at home, but strikes out more batters and goes deeper in games at Coors this year.

Enjoy!
