After Kyle Hendricks outstanding game on Monday night, the NL Cy Young race is way too close to call. In terms of Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points, Max Scherzer leads Madison Bumgarner 79.9 to 78.4, with Hendricks third at 77.7. Hendricks leads the NL in ERA with a 2.03 mark, but he’s pitched 30 fewer innings than Scherzer and about 26 less than Bumgarner. The top two also blow him away in strikeouts. If you are about run prevention, however, Hendricks allowed about 20 fewer earned runs that the other two. At the moment I would lean toward Scherzer due to the strikeouts, but it is a very tough call.
