With 24 weeks of the season gone, 2016 leads 2015 in runs scored 8.99 per game to 8.52 per game. The previous season continues to gain on the current one as the year runs down, but it will be difficult to bring the two into parity. The gap between strikeouts, walks, and home runs are all narrowing, but there are now 700 more home runs hit through the first 24 weeks of 2016 than the first 24 weeks of 2015. The previous season continues to lead in non-home run hits. Despite that 0.5 more batters are reaching base per game.
I’m hoping MLB finds that 0.01 run per game to push the average to 9.0 RPG before the season is over.
