Weekly Look at Offense

Week 11 of the 2017 season proved to be the highest scoring week of the last three seasons as the majors produced 10.53 runs per game. In comparing year over year through 11 weeks, 2017 now leads 2016 by over 0.5 runs per game, 9.32 RPG to 8.80 RPG. Again, comparing the first 11 weeks of the season, HR are up from 2.26 per game in 2016 to 2.53 per game in 2017. Last week, there were 297 home runs hit, 3.1 per game! Walks and strikeouts are up, but last week was a poor one for Ks, with 16.0 per game compared to 16.4 per game for the season. Maybe all the pitcher injuries are starting to take a toll on the Ks.

Batter are still swinging for the fences, and the balls were jumping out of the yard in week 11.
