The White Sox visit the Twins as all five NL Central teams are in contention for the division title. It’s a battle of veterans as Derek Holland takes on Ervin Santana. Holland makes his third start of the season against the Twins. He lost both games, walking a total of five batters and allowing three home runs in eleven innings. Santana found the fountain of youth this season, with a 2.56 ERA. More likely, he found a great defense as his BABIP is a ridiculous .171.
The Red Sox take on the Royal in Kansas City with Chris Sale facing Matt Strahm. Sale has struck out 136 and walked just 18 in 99 innings this season. With just six home runs allowed, opponents have a .205/.244/.310 slash line against Sale. Strahm pitched just 49 major league innings, mostly in relief. He strikes out a ton of batters, but walked 30 so far. With the high K rate, he allowed just 29 hits.
Finally, a big NL West tilt pits the Diamondbacks against the Rockies in Denver. Zack Greinke battles German Marquez. Greinke, for the most part, pitched pretty well at Coors in his career. He allowed just 18 walks and four home runs in 51 1/3 innings, helping him to a 3-0 record in nine appearances. His ERA is 4.03 there, which is not bad. Marquez allows a .200 BA with runners in scoring position this season, with opponents going 11 for 55.
Enjoy!
