Best Batter Today

Christian Yelich extends his lead in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He doubled and singled in a wild game in Milwaukee Friday night as a rout turns into a close game, the Brewers beating the Cubs 13-10. The Cubs scored five runs over the last two innings in a failed comeback.

Anthony Rendon and the Nationals had the day off, but stays just ahead of Mike Trout. Trout hit two home runs Friday night and is slugging .833 on the season. J.D. Martinez extended his hit streak to nine games as Boston’s pitching continues to fail, the Diamondbacks winning 15-8. Mitch Haniger moves past Bryce Harper into fifth place. Haniger homered Friday, while Harper went 0 for 4 with a walk.
