The twenty-third week of the season produced 9.91 runs per game, as home runs and strikeouts stayed high. the 2017 season continues to be power against power. Through the same number of weeks, 2017 leads 2016 in scoring 9.35 runs per game to 8.99 runs per game. The reasons remain the same, home runs and walks are up, other hits are down, and pitchers strike out batters at a much higher rate. Overall, about 0.3 more batter are reaching base compared to last season, but it’s all due to the home runs and the walks.
