Happy birthday to my dad, 98 years old today. He’s a life-long baseball fan, and still watches games on TV whenever he can. Often, the first question to me when we talk is, “How did the Yankees do last night?” He is likely one of the few people alive who attended Lou Gehrig Day at Yankee Stadium.
There are only three former MLB players alive who are older than dad. Note that the aptly named George Elder ranks seventh.
