Extreme Opener

If a game could sum up the low expectation of the Padres season, a 15-0 drubbing by the Dodgers did the trick. The Padres pitchers gave up 17 hits, four walks, hit two batters and threw two wild pitches. The fielder made two errors, but those led to just one unearned runs. The Dodgers did not homer, but they hit seven doubles and a triple.

The Padres offense was just as bad as the pitchers. They managed just one hit and one walk in seven innings against Clayton Kershaw, striking out nine times. The did get three hits against the Dodgers bullpen, but only one hit went for extra bases. San Diego only had five at bats with runners in scoring position, and did not record a hit.

If any Padres fans had hope for this team, that feeling is probably gone. I believe the fans were booing the home team during the Dodgers five-run sixth inning. It was simply a poor, demoralizing, performance.
