More Domestic Trouble

Hector Olivera, an outfielder for the Braves, is on administrative leave after being arrested for assault of a woman:

Police in Arlington, Virginia, said a woman at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City called them at 6:51 a.m. ET. When police arrived, they found a woman with visible bruises claiming she had been assaulted by Olivera.

Olivera, who is waiting to appear before a magistrate, was taken into custody but has not been formally charged. The woman was taken to Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.

Police said Olivera and the woman know each other, but do not know the nature of their relationship.

He has since been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. Given his .211/.238/.263 slash line, the Braves might be better off with him on leave.*

It seems to me we seem to be hearing more about these cases since the suspension policy was put into place. I guess it hasn’t been much of a deterrent.

* Insert your own joke at the end of the sentence. Mine would be, “it must have been a misdemeanor because he swung at her and missed too often.
