For the second time this season, the Rangers have scored a run before recording their first hit:
Rangers first. DeShields walked on a full count. Choo safe at first on fielder’s choice plus throwing error by third baseman Y.Escobar, DeShields to second. Béltre struck out. On Santiago’s balk, DeShields to third, Choo to second. Fielder hit a sacrifice fly to left fielder Gentry, DeShields scored. Desmond lined out to second baseman Giavotella.
In both cases they got help from the opposition defense. Texas leads the Angels 1-0.
