Games of the Day

Milwaukee travels to Chicago leading the Cubs by 3 1/2 games in the NL Central, one of the most surprising results of the season so far. Zach Davies battles Mike Montgomery. Davies is 9-4 despite a 5.03 ERA. The Brewers scored five or more runs in 11 of his 17 starts. He had his ups and downs against the Cubs in his career, although his three-true outcomes are not bad. Montgomery’s low 2.80 ERA is thanks to just three home runs allowed in 64 1/3 innings.

Mike Foltynewicz faces Gio Gonzalez as the Braves travel to Washington. Foltynewicz owns a 6.14 ERA career against the Nationals, but most of that comes from being creamed in his last start against them on June 12th. He has walked 11 Nationals in 22 innings. Gonzalez tries to win a second game at home this season. He is 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA in eight starts.

The Rays are very much in the AL East and AL Wild Card hunt as they host the Red Sox for the weekend. Chris Sale starts the series against rookie Jake Faria. While Sale impressed with his strikeouts this season, he is doing so with great control, walking just 22 batters in 120 2/3 innings. Faria is undefeated, going 3-0 in his first five starts with a 2.23 ERA. He allowed three home runs in 32 1/3 innings, but they do little damage as he holds opponents to a .246 OBP.

Enjoy!
