Massive Tie Scenario

It was another good night for the massive tie scenario in the National League as the Cardinals beat the Braves 11-6 and the Dodgers defeated the Rockies 8-2. The Dodgers and Cardinals remain tied in the standings, both 1/2 game ahead of the Rockies; St. Louis in the wild card race, Los Angeles in the NL West race. The Rockies have a game in hand. The best result for today would be for the Rockies to beat the Dodgers and the Braves to beat the Cardinals, so that all three teams stay within half a game of each other.

The probability of this tie occurring is now about 0.031. That is actually pretty good. If the three teams go into the last day of the season tied, the probability of all three teams remaining tied would be just 0.25. The most likely tie happens at 89 wins.
