The Toronto Blue Jays score seven runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a Justin Smoak home run, to comeback and beat the Rays 9-8. Jaime Schultz and Serigo Romo gave up six hits, two walks and three home run in inning. A Rays win would have kept pace with Oakland, but now Tampa Bay falls 6 1/2 games back in the race, and Oakland’s magic number drops to four.
