Earlier today I pointed out the Padres poor BABIP. Two games into the season, the Cubs made a nice contrast. The Cubs have two big wins under their belts, beating the Angels 9-0 on opening day and 6-1 Tuesday night. Like the Padres, the Cubs have now struck out 21 times. Unlike the Padres, their swinging hard led to four home runs, and a .333 BABIP. The Cubs are swing hard, and missing, but they are also smacking the ball when they make contact.
Note that as is typical for the Angels, they are putting the ball in play often, but they are getting poor results. Their BABIP is .146.
