Triple Crown Watch

J.D. Martinez‘s chances of winning the Triple Crown took a hit Thursday night as Mookie Betts went four for five and Martinez turned in a one for four evening as the Red Sox clinched the AL East title. Neither Martinez nor Khris Davis homered, while Davis drove in two runs to Martinez’s one. The probability of Martinez winning the batting title is now at 0.15, of at least tying for the home run title at .17, of at least tying for the RBI title at .96. The simulated combination of at least tying for both the HR and RBI title is at .22. So Martinez’s probability of a triple crown is between 0.024 and 0.033.
