Goins In

The Indians and Blue Jays move to the 18th inning tied at one. In an unusual move, the Blue Jays bring in Ryan Goins to pitch. Mostly position players are used in a mop-up role to pitch, but Goins is trying to continue to keep the game tied. Wow.

Update: The first two Indians single. Jose Ramirez was 2-2 when he swung at a pitch outside the strike zone and dumped a single to leftfield. Lonnie Chinsenhall just smacked the first pitch into right-center to put runners at first and third. A run down on a grounder to second keeps the game tied, but puts runners on second and third with one out. An intentional walk loads the bases.

Update: Again, wow. Goins induces a double play grounder to shortstop, and gets out of the jam. Goins looked okay on the mound, actually threw a pretty good breaking ball.
