Veterans CC Sabathia and Doug Fister square off in Texas as the Yankees play the Rangers. Sabathia’s big change from last season is his control. In 2017, he walked a batter about every three innings. This season, he is walking a batter about every four innings. Fister for many years was the master of the low walk rate, but now he walks a bit over three batters per nine innings.
Luiz Gohara returns to the Braves rotation against the Phillies and Jake Arrieta. Gohara posted a 4.91 ERA in five starts in 2017, but a 1.29 mark in three relief appearances this year. Arrieta got hammered by home runs in 2017, but allowed just two in his first 44 2/3 innings this season.
I really think Gohara’s nickname should be Chief.
