Games of the Day

The Indians and Cubs renew their 2016 World Series rivalry as Trevor Bauer faces Tyler Chatwood. Bauer ranks sixth in the majors in HR allowed per 9 IP at 0.46. The interesting thing about the pitchers leading in the category are their high strikeout rate. Hard throwing pitchers might be though of as supplying some momentum to the ball-bat collision, but this group is tough to loft. Chatwood comes in second if you lower the qualifying innings to 43. He does not have the high strikeout rate.

Chris Sale takes on Jake Faria as the Red Sox visit the Rays. Sale owns a bit of a reverse platoon split this season. Right-handed batters are hitting .181 against the lefty, left-handed batters are hitting .235. The lefties only have one extra base hit, while righties have 17. Faria mostly worked on the two times through the order rule. His last time out, however, the Rays let him stay in the game to throw eight scoreless innings. It doesn’t look like an opener will start this game.

Enjoy!
