Games of the Day

The Mets take on the Phillies in a big NL East battle as Jacob deGrom faces Zach Eflin. deGrom comes into the game with a 1.87 ERA, having struck out 54 and walked just 11 in 43 1/3 innings. Eflin made just two starts so far, but he was worth the wait. He allowed just one run in his first 12 2/3 innings, the run coming on a solo home run.

Anaheim features a match-up of rookies as Fernando Romero of the Twins faces Shohei Ohtani of the Angels. Romero has yet to allow a run in his career, which is all of 11 2/3 innings long. He walked six batters, but allowed just seven hits thanks to his high strikeout rate. Ohtani returns to his Sunday schedule. So far, he is only showing one strong leg of the three-true outcomes, his strikeouts. He walked 11 and allowed four home runs in 26 1/3 innings.

Finally, Jeremy Hellickson and Zack Godley represent Washington and Arizona in the Sunday night game. Hellickson is pitching his best since 2011, coming into the game with a 2.28 ERA. He’s throwing his curveball more and his slider less. Godley pitched great at home this year, owning a 1.96 ERA in three starts. All three of the home runs against him have come on the road.

Enjoy!
