Madison Bumgarner‘s magnificent performance Sunday night closed the gap with Clayton Kershaw in the Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points race. Kershaw’s lead is down to 0.6 points, Kershaw pitching better average wise over fewer starts. If the vote were held today, I would vote for Kershaw at the top of the list. Kershaw threw a bullpen session on Sunday, but he is still at least one turn through the rotation away from returning. Instead of running away with the award, Kershaw and Bumgarner may battle the rest of the way for the top spot. Three or four extra starts for Bumgarner may make the difference.
