Through 14 weeks, 2016 leads 2015 in scoring 9.01 runs per game to 8.21 runs per game, a difference of 0.8 runs per game. Offense moderated a a bit last week, as teams generated 9.25 runs per game, down from 10.5 runs the week before. It was the fourth straight week over nine runs per game. There have been 561 more home runs hit than last season, the majors having played one more game than through 14 weeks of 2015. Non-home run hits remain at the same level, and strikeouts are way up. It’s a swing for the fences season, and it’s paying off in a lot more runs.
