Junior Guerra continues to make the most of his MLB opportunity, pitching 7 1/3 innings of shutout ball as the Brewers beat the Nationals 1-0. Guerra walked two and struck out seven, allowing two hits as he out dueled Max Scherzer. That lowers his ERA to 2.93.
Guerra is a 31 year-old rookie, and his maturity is showing. It’s tough to stick around that long, playing outside US organized baseball. He was always good at striking out batters, but often wild. His patience finally paid off, and he is a bright spot on the Brewers this season.
